A Speech Therapist, also known as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), is a highly trained healthcare professional who specializes in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating communication, speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders. They work with patients of all ages—from children with developmental speech delays to adults recovering from stroke, brain injury, or neurological conditions. Speech Therapists develop individualized treatment plans to help improve articulation, fluency, vocal quality, and cognitive-communication skills. They also provide therapy for swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) and educate patients and families on techniques that support progress and long-term improvement. Collaborating with physicians, educators, and rehabilitation teams, Speech Therapists enhance patients’ ability to communicate effectively and improve overall quality of life through compassionate, evidence-based care.
