An Acute Care Hospital Occupational Therapist (OT) is a licensed professional who provides therapy to patients with sudden illnesses, injuries, or post-surgical needs during hospitalization. Acute Care OTs assess functional deficits, recommend adaptive equipment, and guide patients in activities that promote independence and safe discharge. They collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support early mobility, cognitive recovery, and rehabilitation goals. Working in fast-paced hospital environments, they adapt interventions to each patient’s condition and medical stability. With clinical expertise and compassion, Acute Care OTs play a key role in improving recovery outcomes and quality of life for hospitalized patients.
