An Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed nursing professional who provides specialized care to patients undergoing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures. Interventional Radiology RNs assess patients before procedures, obtain informed consents, start IV access, and administer medications including moderate sedation while closely monitoring vital signs and patient responses. They assist physicians during procedures such as biopsies, angiograms, and drain placements, and provide post-procedure recovery care and patient education. Working collaboratively with interventional radiologists, technologists, and multidisciplinary teams, IR RNs ensure patient safety, procedural efficiency, and high-quality outcomes. With strong clinical judgment, technical expertise, and adaptability, Interventional Radiology Registered Nurses play a critical role in delivering advanced, minimally invasive patient care.
