A Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (NICU RN) is a highly skilled healthcare professional who provides specialized critical care to premature and critically ill newborns. NICU RNs monitor vital signs, manage incubators and ventilators, administer medications, and perform life-sustaining interventions for infants with complex medical conditions. They collaborate closely with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and other members of the neonatal team to deliver evidence-based, family-centered care. NICU RNs also educate and support parents through the emotional challenges of the NICU experience, offering guidance on infant care and bonding. With compassion, precision, and advanced clinical expertise, NICU RNs play a vital role in stabilizing fragile newborns, promoting growth, and improving long-term outcomes for the smallest patients.
