A Registered Nurse (RN) in a Step-Down Unit provides specialized nursing care to patients who require close monitoring but do not need full intensive care. RNs perform frequent assessments, administer medications and treatments, monitor cardiac and respiratory status, and support patient recovery during transitions from critical care. They work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality care in an intermediate-acuity setting.
