An Operating Room Technician / Surgical Technologist is a vital perioperative professional who assists surgeons and the surgical team during operative procedures. OR Techs prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies, and ensure all items are properly sterilized and available. During surgery, they function as scrub technologists, passing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon. They also assist with patient positioning and count surgical instruments to ensure safety. Working closely with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers, OR Techs play a key role in maintaining efficiency, precision, and patient safety in the operating room.
