An Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed nursing professional who provides specialized care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. Operating Room RNs prepare the operating suite, ensure sterile technique, verify patient information, and assist with surgical positioning and equipment setup. They function as circulating or scrub nurses, coordinating care, maintaining patient safety, and supporting surgeons and anesthesia providers throughout procedures. OR RNs monitor patient status, anticipate surgical needs, and advocate for the patient in the sterile environment. With strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to perform under pressure, Operating Room Registered Nurses play a critical role in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care.
