A Registered Nurse (RN) in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a highly trained nursing professional who provides continuous, life-sustaining care to critically ill or unstable patients. ICU RNs closely monitor vital signs, hemodynamics, and neurological status while managing advanced technologies such as ventilators, invasive lines, and titratable intravenous drips. They perform complex assessments, respond rapidly to emergencies, and collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary critical care teams. ICU Registered Nurses also support and educate families during high-stress situations. With strong critical thinking skills, technical expertise, and vigilance, ICU RNs play a vital role in stabilizing patients and improving survival outcomes.
