A Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed nursing professional who provides specialized care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical or diagnostic procedures. PACU RNs closely monitor vital signs, airway status, pain levels, and neurological function as patients transition safely from anesthesia to full consciousness. They administer medications, manage postoperative pain and nausea, and respond promptly to complications such as respiratory or cardiovascular changes. Working collaboratively with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and perioperative teams, PACU Registered Nurses ensure patient safety, comfort, and stability during the critical recovery phase. With strong assessment skills, vigilance, and clinical expertise, PACU RNs play a crucial role in successful postoperative outcomes.
